It is said that Mikos can acquire the Revelation of god through the Oracle, and they act according to the guidance of the god. Being a Champion of justice is their mission that has been passed on for generations.

She met Tama on her journey, who also comes from Sunrise Island.
Different from her being pious, Tama has lost the hope of life, just muddling through day by day. As a Miko, she felt obliged to get Tama back on the right track so she prayed to god for guidance.
Soon she received the revelation of god and firmly believed that. The revelation said the lost one should be taken to the west where life's meaning and future's hope both lie ahead.
Having been told this, Tama seemed to see a silver lining in her dark life and agreed to be Mikoto's companion, together heading to the west.
