Her Experiences

Upon hearing that Ms. Rinne would also be visiting the Colossus, %s immediately ordered the Fireflies to make the Colossus spotless, presumably because "they didn't want Rinne to think that the Colossus was dirty"... But even if Ms. Rinne was a priestess, isn't cleaning the entire Colossus a little too much?
Once Ms. Rinne entered the Colossus, she headed straight to the Bridge without saying a word. She took out a white handkerchief and cleaned her fingers carefully. Then, she stood in front of the console and bowed deeply twice before standing upright and clapping her hands twice before ending in a final deep bow... Upon seeing that, even I thought Ms. Rinne was going to do something bad to the Colossus!
After that, Ms. Rinne finally spoke and explained that she had just performed a ritual to honor the gods, mainly to inform the God of the Colossus that she was coming to stay for a few days... To which %s was relieved. Later, Ms. Rinne strung ropes and pieces of paper around the Prism Pillar and proceeded to sit under it every day with her eyes closed... As mysterious as it may have looked, it seems that as long as Ms. Rinne is around, I don't have to worry about cleaning the Colossus anymore, which is a good thing.

Her Story (I)

Gosh, I can't believe %s wants to know my story. You may be disappointed though. Priestesses aren't known to live interesting lives, and since I'm one, my life isn't much different...
Now that I think back, I didn't grow up wanting to be a priestess. I can still recall life in Koufu-jou with my parents when I was just a young child. At that time, Koufu-jou wasn't the prosperous place it is now, but through years of war, it was the only place on Cloud Island where one could possibly still live comfortably. Every day, my parents would toil endlessly from sunrise to sunset. Despite all their pain and suffering, the money they brought back was barely enough to feed and clothe the family. Even then, my parents always encouraged me to pursue my passions, such as reading and studying... But I just wanted to get a job as soon as possible to improve my family's living conditions.
And then one day, my life changed forever...

Her Story (II)

It was when the war that had plagued Cloud Island for many years finally came to an end, and the general from the main island took over the entire Cloud Island. Our people felt humiliated to be ruled by an outsider, but for poorer families, peace gave them hope for a more stable life...
I returned home one day to find several samurai standing at the door. They insisted that I was to take part in a selection, but they didn't say a word about what the selection was for... Though uneasy, I left my parents behind and went with them. Surrounded by samurai, I entered Koufu-jou's largest and most luxurious house.
The floor, made of precious wood, resounded with the dull thuds of samurai footsteps, and I was too scared to lift my head to see what was on the screen adorned with gold leaf. The man sitting in the center of the room told me to "look up" as I bowed deeply to the ground, and I could not refuse.
"Very good." His voice was like a gust of cold wind, and it made my hair stand on end, "Get on with the plan now."

Her Story (III)

I was informed by those around me that, I had been handpicked by the general as a priestess to pray for the future blessings of Cloud Island because of my outstanding spiritual powers. I was then assigned to learn how to read and write... and even learn the art of enchantment! I couldn't wait to write to my parents to tell them how excited I was, but then I got the news that both of them had died.
They told me that the general had given my parents fertile land and fine clothes and that they had been living contentedly before contracting a plague... If only I had learned the art of expelling demons sooner, perhaps... Perhaps my parents wouldn't have died like this. Overwhelmed with grief, all I wanted was to be left alone. And yet, someone approached me despite my protestations, knelt down and hugged me, and said, "I'm sorry. It's all my fault. You can put the blame squarely on me... But if your heart allows, I could be your family from now on... I could be your father."
I looked up and saw the general's face up close for the first time. He seemed... less cold than I first perceived.

Her Story (IV)

People think that those at the top are interested in but glory and wealth, yet only I know how hard the general toils for Cloud Island every single day. I was grateful to the general for his kindness towards me and I hoped to be able to share his burdens. The only thing I could do was work to become a capable priestess. Because of this, I set myself to reading and practicing my dance every day without a moment's rest. After intensive training on the main island for four years, I finally became a true priestess.
I couldn't wait to show off my years of training... But for some reason, Cloud Island locals were always giving me dirty looks. The more I tried to help, the more they stayed away from me. They accused me of being a traitor of Cloud Island as I had chosen to dedicate my life to the general... but I turned a blind eye to their actions. They didn't know how hard the general worked, hence they were unable to trust him, and one of my duties as a priestess was to eliminate the rift between them.
But... After meeting you, all that changed... Even the cause of my parents' death so many years ago... But no matter what, as long as I remain a priestess, I'll continue to fulfill my mission until... my last breath.
