His Experiences

Vergil, huh... You mean that cute and chubby little boy? I don't know much about him since he tends to be isolated from others most of the time. Whenever I try to talk to him, he gets spooked and runs off like a scared rabbit... Nope, more like a little hamster, always running away and hiding at the first sign of danger. But despite that, he's actually a good kid. After we bought a shipment of second-hand furniture from Longzhou for the rooms, he came over to give us a hand. Surprising, wasn't it? What's more, he unloaded and moved everything into the rooms all by himself! I suppose his strength perfectly matches that appetite of his, hahaha... But I'm sure Lady Sheol won't have a problem covering his meals!

His Story (I)

U-Um, please don't call me a genius appraiser or anything... I really don't think of myself that way, I'm just a kid who spent a lot of time in a warehouse full of art and antiques. After a while, I got pretty good at noticing their differences, that's all. I-It's true! At first, their authenticity didn't mean anything to me, but the charm of something truly valuable can never be perfectly imitated. Therefore, after seeing so many priceless objects, I naturally learned how to tell which were real and which were fake. Almost... Almost like a well-trained conditional reflex!
It's just... When it comes to appraising, you need to have a pretty subjective eye a lot of the time... Which is why I think anyone can become an appraiser! You should give it a try someday too!

His Story (II)

A-A-Actually, I... I really like my work in the warehouse right now. Why does everyone think I'm being exploited?
Lady Sheol takes really good care of me. I get all kinds of yummy working meals to eat every day! *Sniffle* Even though people say she's taking advantage of me sometimes... I'm always worried that someday she's gonna fire me. Huh? Y-You wanna know more about my work? S-Sure, I can tell you. I help manage the Cloudrover Guild's warehouse. Sometimes, Lady Sheol would ask me to check for any forgeries or defective goods in her inventory... Heehee, it's actually pretty easy work for me. But my mom and dad worry about me spending all day in the warehouse. They think I should ask Lady Sheol to teach me how to do business. It's kind of funny, considering how much they liked keeping me in their warehouse when I was little...

His Story (III)

Actually, I'm working for Lady Sheol to help my family earn some extra money.
My parents used to own a small antique store, but... That was before they went bankrupt. Why? Well, they never told me what happened, but I vaguely remember something about our family having a lot of debt. *Whispering* Just between you and me, I think it was because they lost a lot of money gambling. You don't have to look at me like that. Living in Umbraton and gambling kind of go hand in hand, whether it's betting, doing business, or even appraising antiques... But if you ask me, I'll always be happy as long as I can be with my friends... Huh? You want to know who my friends are? You mean you don't see them? Every antique and piece of artwork in this warehouse is a good friend of mine! They may not be able to talk, but I can understand what they're trying to tell me just by looking at them.

His Story (IV)

Although most of my work involves checking for fakes, I sometimes advise Lady Sheol to purchase certain forgeries when I think they're especially valuable. It's hard to create a masterpiece from nothing; creating a perfect copy of a masterpiece isn't easy either. After all, not even the smallest difference escapes my sight!
You want to know which type of art is the hardest to imitate? Hmm... I would say paintings. Brushes and paints are extremely delicate things. If you don't have a deep understanding of the art piece you're trying to copy, as well as the emotions the artist is trying to convey, you'll never be able to create a perfect replica! It's almost like... Ah! S-Sorry, I started rambling again. Your question just reminded me of some artist, a painter specializing in making forgeries. That artist's skills are absolutely incredible, but it seems like they're only in it for the money. As an appraiser, sometimes I think I should be discovering more works from less-known artists instead of just focusing on famous antiques and art pieces. R-Really? You think so too, %s?
